Chuck found this wonderful flower / plant growing by our propane tank, and we have no idea what it is our how it got there.
Chuck put the stakes around it to keep various children and animals from running it over.
I just love the vibrant colors. If you know what this is, please let me know. I hope it comes back again.

I'm wondering if it is some type of mallow?
That is a really gorgeous flower!
I recognize the leaves, but not the flowers - and am darned if I can remember what it is called. The flowers are a gorgeous colour, and must be just your own version. My memory of them is that they were pinker than the are purple!
Hi Debbie, so nice to meet you. The flowers is beautiful. Love the color.
I wish I could help you out. I just found your blog through Sweet Pozy Dreams. I am your newest follower. I hope you come and visit and follow along.
They're hollyhocks, Debbi! We used to have them in our back yard back in Chicago!
Yep, miniature Hollyhocks, that's what they are! I have some in my yard and they come up every year...sooo pretty!
wow, thanks ladies. I have never seen hollyhocks this small. How did it get there? a bird? will it come back? oh, so many questions. lol
Debbi
They're perennials, so once they're established, they should be back every year! You should see seed pods on the plants at some point and can harvest them if you want to. As for how they got there, most likely the wind or being carried in on some small critters. They definitely are cute little blooms :)
Sigh... I'm homesick for the Midwest again, lol.
those leaves are huge! My guess would have been a weed. hahaha.
Very pretty, I had no clue, but then I don't think Hollyhocks grow in Hawaii, so I'm excused..LOL!
