Well....I've been sick for 4 days, in my pj's all day, lounging on the sofa, and my mind is a cold induced mush....no content there today. So, without anymore ado....
here's to a contentless post.
Just for fun, because everyone needs a good laugh.
I was watching The Big Bang Theory the other night and I was laughing so hard....and I remembered hearing that laughter helped to release chemicals in your body that help you be healthy.
Yesterday we were driving home from a hot day spent at Brandon's Special Olympics. I took Hannah and Owen with me. Here's our pictures before we started to melt.

Any how, on the way home, Owen let out a "silent killer". You know what I mean, the kind that can curl your hair. And we knew it was Owen because when Hannah and I in the front seat commented about the smell, he just started to laugh!!!!! That little stinker, lol.
And that brought up a memory that I shared with Hannah, and now I'll share with you. It was back in late 1999 and Chuck, my son Josh, and I had just moved to North Carolina. As a surprise his daughter Colleen and her husband Pat surprised us with a Christmas visit.
And they brought their kids, Patrick (the blond at the top) and Krystal (holding the bunny (?)) and Shannon (the red head). Cody wasn't with them on this trip. I had taken my son Josh and the 3 kids to an evening church function, and on the way home Patrick let loose with a whopper. I mean the kind that fogs up the windows and can wilt every plant in a 3 mile radius. It was so bad that I had to pull off the road so the rest of us could get out of the car, while Patrick just laughed his fool head off. Now here was the problem. We live in the country. Where there is no street lights. And it was nighttime. And it had been raining. And apparently I pulled off too far, and the car got stuck in the muddy ditch. So poor Josh had to walk to the closest house with a light on and ask to use their phone. Let me tell you, Chuck and Pat were not laughing when they had to come and pull the car out of the ditch. But by that time, the rest of us were. Yeah, we're a strange family with a strange sense of humor.
And this memory just gave me another memory. Of my Daddy's car. My Daddy liked to drink. Genny Cream Ale to be exact. And every time I had to borrow his car, if I had to drive over a bump, you could still smell the old beer farts that were "stuck" in the drivers seat. I hated to borrow that car, but I loved my Daddy. hahaha
And to end this smelly memory trip, how about a little Seinfeld?

This past Saturday, (after weeks of hubby begging), we made Crisco cut out cookies. They are a lot of work, and totally unhealthy (by today's standard), but sooooo worth it! It's an old family recipe and I will admit, I sneak a few bites of the dough as I roll it out.
I did the rolling and cutting and baking, and left the decorating to Hannah and Chuck.
Brandon didn't join us till it was time to eat them. lol
Have you ever tried to blog (or do anything) with a 2 year old around? Especially a rambunctious all-boy 2 year old? I don't recommend it, hahaha. Owen wants attention, and he wants it now, but first let me share with you his new bike. Yes bike. You see, Owen is a big 2 year old, and he out-grew a tricycle before we even got to buy him one, so he has a Lightening McQueen bike. He sits on in but is not sure about the pedals, so he watched Brandon. Now, Brandon does not pedal, he walks, so now Owen walks too. It's too funny watching these 2 together. :~D See you tomorrow Debbi
Now you all know how I love my boo boo (my grandson Owen), and I love my bubba (my foster son Brandon), but you should see how they love each other. Owen wants to do everything Brandon does, which is not always a good thing.
Here they are riding their bikes together. Now I know Owen is not quite 3 yet, but he is already too big for a tricycle. He wasn't too crazy about this little bike, till he watched Brandon first. You may not know this, but our Brandon has some special challenges, and he does not have very good balance, so he doesn't pedal, he walks. And now so does Owen, lol. But I'm sure Owen will try to pedal soon enough.
Whenever Owen comes over, once we finally get him into the house (he's a real outdoorsy type), usually the first place he goes is to Brandon's room. Sometimes he'll call out for Brandon, and then he will run in and grab the toys! Oh the toys! Way too many toys! hahaha. It's funny, while some may call Brandon challenged, he always knows when someone has been in his room. lol. But this is my favorite. The boys love the movie "Mater's Tall Tales" and always want to watch it. They watched it soooo much, I made Mater go away on vacation for a while. Anyway, the first clip is about Mater revving his engine in preparation to jump a line of cars. After he is airborn a few inches, he falls on the cars and drives over them. Well, my boys know all the lines and the moves from this movie. Watch it and enjoy, and I'll see you all tomorrow. Debbi
Today I was window shopping on Etys, and did a search for other members of this great social site I belong to.... Creating The Hive. This site is a great place to share and learn with other artists, filled with a diverse range of artistic endeavors. So I decided that today, I am shopping in the Etsy Hive. Here is what I found...
I just love this little green guy, he made me smile :) I found him in the shop of hive member The Silver Hook. This Green Long Legged Alien is ready to hop into his UFO and land in bed with your own little guy.
Here's another one that just made me laugh...Ash the Watcher Elf. That hair...those ears...and that face! Gotta love it. You can find Ash in the shop of Homespun Dolls.
And who doesn't love teddy bears. I still have my oldest sons first teddy bear, he just turned 33. I keep him (the teddy) on my bed because it too makes me remember, and smile. Now this teddy, named Parker, comes with his own ice cream cone, and ice cream is a big hit in my house. You can find Parker at the shop of Glass Dragon Bears Etc.

Today I visited a great little Etsy shop, Las Flores Del Sur. Marisa is from Patagonia, a region containing the southernmost tip of South America (I goggled it ;p), specifically Trelew in Argentina. A graphic and web designer, Marisa has filled her shop with great hair pins, clips, brooches, and pins. Here's a few of my favorites.
What great Christmas stocking stuffers! And she has some great tutorials on her blog, like the one showing how to knit with plastic bags. She made a knit plastic bag to hold plastic bags haha. You can also follow her on twitter.

"Quirky", my word for the day. I just enjoy the sound of the word, it makes you smile when you say it. And it is the perfect description for this weeks Besteam feature on LoveElycia. I have always enjoyed her shop and blog, and I got a giggle today when I noticed that she dyed her hair blue. Looooove it!
My Hannah wants purple and pink hair. Daddy says no, but someday I'm sure she'll have it. Elycia seems to be the kind of person you might want to get stranded on an island with, because she will keep you entertained. lol. She's a cat person who loves Star Wars, (must be a missing member of my family), and when I read her blog intro about herself, I became sure that she belongs in my family, hahaha. Her blog is a great place to spend some time, and she seems to have a thing for mustaches *smile*.
She loves headbands, and she now has some vintage clothing in her shop. Here are a few of her great items. Be sure to stop by her shop and blog, and say hello to the quirkiest girl I know. lol
I just had the strangest memory. My mom got her first set of false teeth (just uppers) when she was maybe mid-40's. Well, they didn't fit right. One night we were cutting up with some company when she started to laugh and OUT FLEW HER TEETH!! They landed right in the middle of the living room floor. What a hoot. She probably laughed harder than anyone else in the room. She was that type of person. A fully wild artist of the 70's. And I am so glad she was my mom. With that being said, I would like to tell you about Paige. She is probably the youngest member of our BESTeam at 14 years of age. Paige shared that she first learned to sew from her grandma when she was very young, and didn't like it much. But having someone to teach us and guide us when we are young is very important, like my mom and her grandmom. Now 11 years later, Paige is showing signs of the great designer I am sure she will become someday. Her shop, comeshoppinklemonade features many of her designs. She makes fashion accessories and really loves ruffles. On her sister shop, ShopSealedWithAKiss, she has cool and funky jewelry. Besides being homeschooled, she also finds time to make tutorials for her blog. Check all her sites out and I'm sure you'll be as impressed with this young woman as I am.
