A Little Window Shopping

I'm just sitting here getting ready for the last season of Downton Abbey  :'(
and I thought I would do a little window shopping for some great handmade.

I popped over the Scott's Marketplace and found these adorable Funky Chicken earrings in the shop of KATs-n-Thats.

Over at Handmade Artist's Shop there is an interesting shop called Cabochon_Persnickity's that not only has great items, like this Thimbles for Buckets earrings, but they tell stories about their creations.  A great item description is as important as great pictures.

One of my "old" friends on The CraftStar is Kristen from Quirky Bits N Pieces.
She not only makes amazing artisian yarn, but also these wonderful mini weaving looms, complete with special yarn and directions.

That's it for tonight.....
Downton Abbey is calling!

Be blessed,
Debbi

Feature Friday - The Kitchens and Handmade Artists

This week I'm featuring a wonderful couple and the amazing work they do for the handmade community.  Andrew and Kimberly Kitchen.
Let's talk about Kimberly first....
and her shop MakinTheBestOfIt.
Here Kimberly shares her creative talent with painted glass, wire wrapped sea glass, and altered art.  I love this Clockwork Orange art piece.  When I first saw this piece in her shop, the book worm in me went "nooooooo" but then the artistic side went "how cool"!  This would look amazing in any library.

Here's a great example of her sea glass creations.  I love this Sterling Leaves Pendant,  how she created the leaves from sterling silver, and then used them to offset the glass.  Very classy.

Kimberly also runs the website, It's Better Handmade.  This is a forum where artists from every venue can come and share their work.

Now for Andrew...
...he does chainmaille.  And he does it beautifully.  Like this Sterling Silver Half Persian Bracelet.   I have to admit, it was the clasp that first caught my eye...but the maille is exquisite.  You'll find tons of his great creations in his shop Chainmaille by MBOI.

Here's another amazing piece... Sterling Silver and Copper Tryzantine Necklace.  So many rings....so much beauty.

Andrew and Kimberly also run the online site HandmadeArtists.  Artisians of all kinds sell there creations here, and it is a site dedicated solely to handmade.  There is also a forum for all artists to come together, chat, visit, share their creations, share other's creations, and just hang out.  We have a blog ring, a pinterest group, something to cover pretty much every social media, and my favorite, the "What Are You Doing Today" discussion.  It's so much fun to really get to know everyone.  And it is such a friendly place you'll never want to leave.

So click on a link, and come on over.
I'll put the kettle on, and Larissa will supply the honey. :0)

Be blessed,
Debbi

The Craft Star is for the birds....

...bird lovers, that is.  And I am definetly a bird lover.  The past 2 weekends we have gotten new birds (which is driving my cat crazy) so I thought I would see what birdy items I could find at The Craft Star.

I love this vintage Sarah Coventry Bird Pendant.  When I was a teenager, there was a woman down the street that sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and I absolutely loved this line of jewelry.  It was trendy, and affordable for someone on a babysitting income.  I found this piece in the shop of Dobler Styles'.
I don't know about you, but I am so ready for summer.  Green grass, flowers, and garden decor.  I love the bright and bold colors on this Neon Sunset Heron Bird Flag.  I found this in the shop of Floozees Dozees.  Man, I love that name, hahaha.
Now, is this wall plaque awesome, or what???
It's a handmade 90 piece custom tropical bird wooden wall plaque by Tom's Crafts.  There are 6 different birds here, and Tom will paint them to match your own birds, to make it completely personal.  Very cool!  You can find all the birdy stuff at The Craft Star here.

Now let me show you our 2 new babies.

This is Victor. He's a parakeet. We had named him Violet (because of his color), but Hannah did a google search and has determined the she was a he, thence the name change to Victor.

And this is Sweets, he's a cockatiel.  And he's all mine.  Cockatiels bond to one person, so I have to take my time letting him get use to me.  I can't wait till he is a little older and starts to talk.
Fun!!!

If you're interested in anything above, just click on the links and you will be wisked away to the appropriate place.  And until next time,
Be blessed,
Debbi
