And the feet goes on....

I love family.
I love tradition.
I miss my kids being little.
 I love having grand-babies.
And with all that being said, I would like to share with you the lion baby slippers I made for my newest grandson Quintin.
As you can see by the picture above, I had originally made slippers for my kids when they were little.  My son got his slippers for Christmas when he was about 11 and wore them until he was a teenager.  I had packed them up when he moved out as an adult.  When Quintin was born, I pulled them out of my cedar chest with the intention of making a new pair for him.  After a quick google search, I actually found the vintage pattern book, which I just had to order.  As you can see, the new slippers were a big hit. :0)
And daddy's slippers still fit too.  LOL
I decided to list these slippers in my shop for your children and grandchildren too.
I have them listed in my The Craft Star shop and offer them in the size you need, and will be adding other animals soon.  If you would like a pair for your special little one, just give me the measurement of the child's foot at the time of your order, and within 2 weeks, they'll be on their way.
What is your favorite animal?
Be blessed,
Debbi

The Craft Star artist feature - Yankee Girl Art

Today I want to share with you the wonderful art of an amazing artist on The Craft Star
Carol Bruno of Yankee Girl Art.
Carol is from New Jersey, a fellow Yankee like me, only I'm originally from the other side of New York State, Tonawanda to be exact.  Carol is a lover of nature and it reflects beautifully in her art.

Here's one that Hannah would love, especially after her week at the Dude Ranch.
This watercolor painting of a running horse is so perfect, I can almost feel the wind whipping through her mane.
This is a signed original, so you won't find another one like it anywhere.

This watercolor of a bunch of sunflowers has been my favorite since I first joined The Craft Star...actually all of her painting have become my favorite, hahaha, along with her painting of the beach.  I could so see myself relaxing in these beach chairs, feet dipping the in the surf.
Carol also has 2 other shops, This Girls Stuff, which is all vintage (yea vintage) and The Girlfriends, where she sells customizable original artwork of girls having fun, celebrating the friendships we girls share.
You can also like her on Facebook, and follow her on Pinterest.
You can click on any link above to visit Carol, and while you're there at The Craft Star, check out the other amazing shops there too.  You'll be glad you did...

Meet the newest member of our family....

Chuck wanted to surprise me  with a special gift on Mother's Day.
Isn't she a cutie?  She fits in one hand and came from our neighbors....free.  Well, not really free,
cat food and dish to go into the baby
cat litter and box for what comes out of the baby
cat toys and treats to amuse the baby
$45.00
when she cuddles on my chest and purrs
priceless!
She purrs so hard her whole body vibrates.
Pee Wee is not too sure yet, he loves to follow her around and play, but she was too young to be weaned (the stray momma took the other kittens and left this one under the neighbor's shed)
so last night she tried to nurse on PeeWee.  HE was NOT amused.
She sure does love to eat.  And because of her coloring, I named her Patches.  I love my kitty.
Do you have, or love, cats?  How can you not?

A cat watches his owner feed him and pet him and loves him, and thinks he is god."

Lakewood Park

Every time I take my foster son into town to see his therapist, he asks to go to the park.  Well, yesterday we were early for his appointment, so we stopped at the park by the hospital.  It was sunny (but still a little wet) and the park was beautiful.  We had never been there before, there were the obligatory shelters for picnics, and lots of walking trails through the trees, but my son's favorite part was the pond/lake.  (too big to be called a pond, but not quite a lake).  Wooden bridges took us over the creek feeding into the pond, and then we saw them...the ducks.  And then the geese.  And a turtle, but he ducked under the water before I could take his picture.  Maybe he was in the turtle witness protection program. :0)

The geese above were certainly not shy, they followed us all around the pond, probably looking for us to feed them since it was lunch time.  Then I saw these funny looking ducks.  I have never seen ducks like these, and I was worried they would take off before I got a good look at them, but when they saw me walking on the grass towards them, they came over to meet me.  These pictures were taken with my phone, so they aren't the best, but the colors on these ducks were really cool.  A white spotted chest, a bright red mask around the eyes, and the tips of the wings and the tail feathers were an iridescent greenish purple, very hard to describe.

Here's the male...he was being difficult about posing for me.  Apparently I arrived during his bath time. LOL.  And see that goose in the back ground?  That's the same one from the first picture.  I told you, he was stalking me! hahaha

Then came the babies.  There were 2 separate groups of ducklings, one group swam the other way when I walked up to the pond, but I watched these ones (a little older) swim all the way down from the other end of the pond to see what all the fuss was. They were so cute, and my foster son wanted to try and hold one so bad, I started to worry he would fall into the pond with them.  I finally got him to step back from the edge before we both ended up swimming with the ducks.

The last to join our group were the adult mallards.  After about 10 minutes, when all these wonderful birds realized that I had no food, they left.  Just quacked, turn around, wiggled their tail feathers, and just left.

But it was nice while it lasted.

The moral of this story?  We all need to take just 10 minutes from our busy days to step back, and really look at the wonderful world around us.  I'm glad we did.  Oh, and yeah, we ended up late to our appointment. ((smile))

feeding the chickens

Hey! You want to see something funny?  My chickens eat dog food from a spoon.
Yeppers...for someone with poor time management skills...I have too much time on my hands. LOL

Cool pets

I took the girls to the pet store today. I love the local pet store in my home town, Pets Plus in Lockport New York. They specialize in unusual animals. Here's a few the girls and I enjoyed.
