New Listings at Yankee Burrow

I've been trying hard to increase the quantity of my inventory in my shop, and I've managed to get quite a few items listed.  My problem is not in the creating....it's in taking photos and thinking of tags and descriptions and SEO and promoting and blah blah blah. hahaha

I have been on a baby kick lately.  I "discovered" the cutest patterns for baby booties and footwear from Two Girls Patterns, and these Bright Orange Sandals are just one pattern of many.  These orange ones are sized for 6-12 months.

Here's the same pattern, but in Bright Yellow and sized 0-6 months.  Both sandals have hot pink buttons, but I used heart shaped buttons for the smaller ones.

How's this for color?  I had created this Acrylic Blue Flower Necklace for my old shop, but then I redid it and created 2.  One for me, and one for you. :0)

Here's a new piece for my vintage section, a green and rhinestone choker.   I found this at a local estate sale, and the colors are so much prettier in real life.  (I really need to work on my photography skills, lol.)  It makes me think of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

This last item is a crochet star blanket that I just finished, after the 4th of July of course, haha.  These are just some quick pictures, and hopefully I will have better pictures and this listed next week.

You can find all these (except the blanket) waiting for you in my The Craft Star Shop.  Just click on the item link.

So, what have you made lately?

I've been a very busy girl....

I love creating...I can't just sit and watch tv without a crochet hook in my hand.  I even crocheted a scarf while riding on the back of a motorcycle during a trip.  So I don't have a problem creating, which is good when you have an on-line handmade shop.  But my problem?  I hate doing the item photography, writing descriptions, and coming up with tags.  So I end up with a pile of stuff that all needs to listed, and I do them all at one time.  May not be good for SEO, but it works for this momma.  So, would you like to see?
Aren't these adorable?  The blue ones are so tiny, for 0-6 months, and the red ones are for 6-12 months.  I found the pattern for these flip flops, and other cutie patotie baby shoes at Two Girl Patterns.  They have so many adorable patterns, it took me days to decide.
I had the vision of this red, white, and blue stretch bracelet in my mind for a while, but I couldn't find the beads in any of my local craft stores, so I needed to order them from Fire Mountain Gems.  While I love that site, I am not at all patient while waiting for supplies. hahaha.
The last of my featured items is this set of 4 eco-friendly kitchen fun for Independence Day.  In this set you get 2 pot scrubbers and 2 hot pads.

I still have even more ready for a photo op and listing, so be on the look out for more handmade love in my The Craft Star shop, with some vintage thrown in for fun.

Have you created anything new lately???
Get them juices flowing, it will make you feel good. :0)

My newest " baby", Miss. Pink Funny Bunny

Well, I finally got a new item listed in my Craft Star shop.  This summer has just flown by, and I have spent a lot of it making gifts for Quintin, my newest grandson.  :-)
But after I finished his blanket and shipped it off, I was determined to create something to list in my shop.
And here she is...

This is actually the third bunny I made.  Hannah took my first one, and she sold the second one at school.  So I figured it was time to make one for the shop.

At only 8" tall, she's a great size for little fingers.  I have hand sewn all the buttons on with strong embroidery thread, but I still don't recommend this toy for babies.
(Oh, and I found the pattern at my favorite go-to site, Lion Brand Yarn. )

Well, it's time for me to get back to class, and everyone.....have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

He's Here!!!!

Yesterday evening at 6:39 pm my grandson Quintin Lee Frescholtz came into the world.  At 6 lbs, 18.5 ozs, he is a beautiful healthy wonderful addition to my life.
Isn't he just the handsomest young man you ever did see?  of course, I may be a bit biased. lol,
And here's the whole family.  My Gregory looks almost more tired that Kristen, who did all the work! haha
Now it's time to start planning our first visit to meet my little man.  Hmmmm, how much time should I give them to rest before I arrive????

let's do a Friday finds...new handmade items I found

I've been a bit MIA from my second home this past week, so today I'm looking to see what I missed in the land of handmade.
Let's start with The Craft Star, my new home sweet home...

Here's a sweet idea, a crochet necklace from the shop of Thread Headz.  She has actually listed 3 new crochet necklaces, and is having a crazy good sale going on right now in her shop.  You need to check it out.

Oh....I need to get this for Quintin.  How adorable is this crochet cowboy boots and hat? And I've seen regular baby booties, roller skates, and so many other great baby items in this shop, Handmade Gifts by Barb.

Look what I found in the vintage section!  An amazing turquoise pendant. This was in the shop of Retro Sideshow, whom I featured just last week.  Amazing shop with amazing items.

Now I'm off to visit some old friends at Handmade Artists.
This handbound book would be a great gift for any student in your life. You can find books of all sizes and kinds in the shop of Blue Highway.

Cari from Crochet Hooked makes these amazing bracelets.  She somehow crochets them.  I tried this, and let me tell you...it ain't easy. lol.  I love the warm brown color of this braidlet bracelet.

Well, I'm running out of time, and need to go and start dinner, so my shopping time is done.  But you can continue to discover the beauty of handmade just by clicking on any of the links above.

What's new with handmade

It's been a while since I've checked out some other sites to see what's new "with the competition". hahaha.  Not really, the best part of being part of the handmade community is the support we give to each other. :0)

Over at Handmade Artists, I found this really cool feather mask.
It's made of papier mache and beautiful turkey feathers.
I found this in the shop of Dara Gallery.

I love things that speak to our nations Native American history, (plus hubby is part Cherokee) so when I saw this handpainted gourd bowl, I knew I had to share it with you.  Done in a traditional pattern, you can find many more pieces in the shop of bjsgourtartetc

Over on Etsy, I found this beautiful watercolor painting of feathers.  This is an original painting, not a print and you really need to visit the shop to see the colors...very bright and vivid!  The artist is Rakla, and her talent is amazing.

After Etsy, I popped over to Artfire.  I haven't been there in ages!
I love this embroidered terry hand towel and if it was mine, and I caught some one actually put their wet hands on it????  Well, let me tell you, it would be ON! lol.  There are tons of other beautiful items in the shop of Velvet Hearts.

And to end this post, I had to visit my new haunt, The Craft Star.
Just lookie at what I found!!!!  The cutest baby cowboy boots, I need these for Quintin!
You can find the sweetest baby stuff in the shop of

Did you realize that Christmas is just around the corner?  AGHHHHH. lol.
You can get a jumpstart on your decorating with this gorgeous handpainted ornament for your tree.  It's a wooden egg, so you won't have to worry about it falling and breaking, if you're like me and keep your tree up until it's almost bald. :0)
Stop by Bryn and Jeremiah's shop to see this, and many more handmade decorations.  And it's not just for Christmas.

Well, that's my shopping spree for today.  Pick a link, any link, and have fun shopping for yourself.

What's your parenting advice?

As you all may (or may not) know, my son and his wife are expecting their first baby at the end of August.  (Just look at that tiny bump).  Her sister is hosting the baby shower next month in New York, and unfortunately I won't be able to attend.  (I'm saving my travel money for after the baby is born.)  Today in the mail I received a package from her sister with several pieces of scrapbook paper and these instructions....
1) fill out a page with a message or advise to the parents
2) a message to Quintin (the baby)
3) several "tip boxes" on various baby topics.
a) favorite games, toys, songs,
b)ways to save time
c) ways to save money
Kendra is making a "surprise" baby manual for them...I love it.
Now since I consider all of you my friends, I thought I would ask you for some tips too.  If you have any, please share in a comment.  And I will be sure to give you credit! lol
And here's my son putting together the baby crib.  He's gonna be a great daddy!!!!

what's new Friday finds...

I have been having the most unproductive month....I think my muse and my time keeper ran away together.  I don't seem to have time to create, and when I make time, my mind goes blank.  So for inspiration, I did some searching on HandmadeArtists.com and Etsy.com for new listings.  Look what I found on Etsy...

Now how cute is this Crochet Wolf by REcreationsyarn? His name is Timber and he is 9.5" tall.
Then there's this amazing roving combed fiber by TheCritterRanch.  I could just see this finished as a beautiful soft scarf, I can feel my creative juices starting to drip.  How about this original modern abstract art piece from ModernHouseArt.  These flowers are painted with a pallet knife instead of a brush which makes them just pop off the canvas.  I love it!
Now we're off to my newest favorite place...HandmadeArtists.com.

I find these Mustache Mens Cuff Links by Baronyka to be a hoot!  My Chuck shaved his mustache off last month, and everyone bugged him, so now he's growing it back.  Yeah for me. :0)
The Red Butterfly Pendant is made of acrylic and can also be found in the shop of Baronyka.
Now, there is a story behind these Ice Skate Baby Booties by IKnitQuiltSew.  This is a new original pattern that Sandi created, and when it came time to attach the blades, she shared it with us in the forum, and it was fun to see all the different ideas, which is why I love the HandmadeArtist Forum, what a great family.  So, I feel that we all should get credit for the skates!  Ok, not really, but aren't they adorable???  And you don't have to have a shop on the site to join the forum, come and check us out.   Now it's your turn, what new items have you created this week?  Share it with a comment.  And I'll hopefully see you all tomorrow.

HA artists feature - Thunder Rose Leather

There is a shop on Handmadeartists that I simple adore...Thunder Rose Leather.  I have always been partial to the Southwest country theme, and Chuck is from Indian descent, so the items you'll find here fit my taste perfectly.

Look at this Black Fringed handbag...I have a black fringed leather purse, but the beading on this is wonderful.  And the beaded trim, well, just perfect.  Read what they say about this bag.  "This black fringed tote measures 14" x 14" x 4" and has a pocket divider inside and a comfortable flat strap for wearing crossbody. The strap measures 38". This is a made to order handbag so if you would like the strap longer or shorter just email us and we would be happy to help you. The leather is deer tanned cowhide. The beaded sunflower is beaded by me with glass seed beads and I decorated with glass crow beads."  Now this bag is custom made, so please expect 3-4 weeks to ship, so order your Christmas gifts now.
Debbie and John are the artists behind ThunderRoseLeather, and they live outside Sedona, Arizona.  Take a look at the view in their banner....beautiful!

Here we have a leather clutch that's a perfect size for a wallet, your cell phone, or even your checkbook.  Created with elkskin, and accented with great beadwork attached directly to the skin, this looks so soft to the touch.  And if you look close, that button closure is an antler button.  A perfect finishing touch.  John and Debbie have been working with leather and beads for more than 20 years, and the quality of their work shows in their items. My very favorite items from their shop are the baby moccasins.  At only 4" long...imagine the work given to the detail of these booties.  Ah, Amanda, time for another baby so Gramma can go shopping!

You can find Thunder Rose Leather not only on Handmadeartist but also on Etsy, Facebook, blogger, and they even have their own website.  So go and start your holiday shopping now, and don't forget to get something just for you too. :0)

HAF artists feature - iKnitQuiltSew

Today I would like to share with you a great shop at TheHandmadeArtists
iKnitQuiltSew is a wonderful place stuffed full of blankets, and dolls, and so many things for baby and mommy. Check this out.
I love this little kitty!  A vibrant pink baby quilt with pretty grey kitties.  What a great way to comfort your baby girl at nap time.  Heck, I would like this quilt for myself, LOL.  This is a one of a kind original design by Sandi herself, and it measures 40.5" x 44", perfect for the princesses crib.  It was first machine assembled and quilted, then hand quilted with medium weight polyester batting.  Sandi hand embroidered the details on the kittens faces and even signed her name, making this not only a quilt, but a piece of art.
Sandi learned to knit from her grandmother and some of the patterns she uses are actually from her great-grandmother, dating from the late 1800's.  That's where the classic look of Sandi's items must come from, like these hand knit white and red cowboy booties.  Aren't they just adorable?  And how about this large brown toy teddy bear?  He is completely handmade with movable joints, and a cute knit scarf.  He measures almost 16" tall when standing.  She also carries dolls, headbands, dishcloths, and baby gifts.  So hop on over to her shop iKnitQuiltSew and visit her blog.  You won't be sorry.

HAF artist spotlight....Lisianblue

Today let's take a peek into the wonderful world of Lisianblue over on HandmadeArtists.com
Kris is an artist that enjoys many different mediums, but for her shop, her medium is yarn.  Kris loves to crochet and knit, and creates items for all ages and uses, from baby bibs to hats to washcloths.
I really like the pretty shade of lavender she used for this Womens Lacy Cloche Cap.  This cap is 20" around and has very pretty, yet subtle, Czech Crystal beads in the flower and along the bottom row, to add just the right amount of bling to your look.  Kris shares that her "model" for her hats is slightly smaller than a "normal" adult head, so the hat lays down lower in the picture that it will on your head.  But if you need your hat a different size, she would love the opportunity to create one especially for you.
Here's some beautiful knit Lavender Blue Fingerless Gloves.  The lacy pattern and picot edging make these gloves dressy as well as functional to keep your hands and wrists warm.  They measure 7" long and 6.5" around, and when you check out this items page, you will see all the different colors you get to chose from, so you can have what you need to match any outfit.
I just love the bright yellow of these crocheted dishcloths.  They measure only 4.5" x 4.5", a size I prefer in dishcloths.  And the sunny bright color will make even washing dishes a happy chore.

Click on any link above to visit Kris's shop, Lisianblue.  You can also find her here...

trying new things! iKnitQuiltSew

If you caught my blog post(s) yesterday, you'll see where I was playing with my new phone...trying a new blogger app, and not doing too well with it, lol.  Another new thing in my life this year is my shop on the Handmadeartistsshop site.  It's a forum, and it's a selling site, and part of the "newness" is that there are new artists that I get to meet, and share.  So my first HAS artist feature is.... *drum roll please*.... iKintQuiltSew!
Not all artists work with paint, or clay, or marble.  Sandi is an artist that lovingly creates beauty with fabric and yarn.  She learned to knit and sew from her grandmother, and uses the patterns that came from her great-grandmother, giving such a touch of vintage class to all her items, like this...
Camo Colors Knit Baby Hat and Booties gift set.  With all the great-grands, and great-nephews and nieces popping up in my family, gift sets are a God-send to my sanity.  And let's not forget poor tired mommy...with this beautiful Ladies Headband with flower.  The color is sure to brighten any sleep deprived new mother, and make her look, and feel, wonderful.

And if your newest family member is a little girl, what little girl could resist this...meet Anne the rag doll
I made a doll..once..for a granddaughter, and let me tell you, attaching curly hair onto a doll was enough to make me pull out my own hair.  It's so much better when Sandi does it, lol.  This doll looks so soft and ready to help your little angel have sweet dreams.  And then hang this colorful Hand Quilted Baby Quilt on the nursery wall.  What a perfect touch!

The last item I would like to share is the very first item that caught my eye from this shop...a gorgeous Handmade Log Cabin Lap Quilt.  The air can be a little nippy at those 3am feedings, heehee.
You can also get to know Sandi by becoming a follower of her blog, and like her on facebook to get all the latest up to the minute news on iKnitQuiltSew.

Be Blessed!
